Michaëla healed from Rheumatism

Testimony february 2003

Previous history
During pregnancy last year I began to be bothered by pain, pains I thought were due to being pregnant. But after the delivery the pain didn't disappear but became more, much more. The substitute GP diagnosed Carpal Tunnelsyndrome and suggested 2 operations, one on the left wrist and one on the right wrist. For the other pains, of the hips, knees and arms, they suggested tests for rheumatism.
Our GP sent us to the rheumatologist. After a thorough blood-check, X-rays and a bone-scan, I appeared to be suffering from rheumatism.
I was relieved that the cause had been found and treatment could follow, although I didn't relish the thought of two operations.
In the meantime, it had deteriorated so much so that I couldn't lift a cup of tea. I couldn't wash and comb my hair myself. After a while I couldn't get out of the bathtub or bed and my husband had to help me dress and undress. It was impossible to do everyday things. And this with 3 little ones who needed help and attention everyday. I depended on my surroundings and sometimes it was terrible not to be able to do the simplest of things.
The operation seemed no option for me. Especially the "6-weeks-rest-after-the-operation" period seemed impossible for me with 3 toddlers at home who couldn't sit still for one minute.

But I believe that Jesus is our Healer! That's why we started praying, with the faith that Jesus carried all our sicknesses with Him on the cross and that He said: "It is finished!".
Weeks passed by without a sign of improvement. I received medicine for Carpal tunnelsyndrome and potent painkillers. The rheumatologist suggested a treatment for 12 months. We agreed to start with it on Monday.
But the Sunday before, God made clear why my rheumatism didn't disappear and when they prayed for me that evening, I was set free. And I knew at that very moment that I was free!!

That monday morning I went to my GP, I testified that I believed that God had healed me and if it was allright not to start yet with the anti-rheumatism medication. He agreed! In the months that followed I needed less and less painkillers and I began to sleep better and better.
At first the rheumatologist protested that I didn't use my medicine. But after examining me, he admitted that indeed some improvement had set in since his last examination. I told him that I had been prayed for. He agreed to my proposal not to use the medicine and to wait and see what would happen.

Two months later, a new appointment followed. He wanted to convince me that it wasn't wise not to use medicine with a view to possible deformities I would get. When I told him it was getting better, he said that it was possible that it was a period of improvement. But after examination his words were, and I quote: "I am dumbfounded". He admitted that things were going very well. He took his words back that "it was a temporary improvement". He said that in this case there was something more going on. He also took back the comments about the deformities in the future. As far as he was concerned, this was something completely different and that there was no question about deformities in the future.
I asked him if, what he had diagnosed, would, normally speaking, be possible. And do you know what he said? "I believe indeed that you received help from Above!".

I don't need to go back. I have to have my blood checked once more in two months by my GP. And if my situation deteriorates, I can make a new appointment. But I know it won't be necessary. Because: when the Son (Jesus) makes you free, then you are really free!
