Is there a storm in your life?
This is an encouragement for people that are beaten by the storms of life:
Jesus in the storm
Matthew 14:13-33
First we read how Jesus feeds a multitude of 5000 people with 5 loaves and two fish. What a miracle! The disciples have seen this event happening with their own eyes.
Afterwards He says to His disciples: “Get into the boat and go to the other side of the lake". Jesus still has to send the multitude home. Perhaps He wants to make a chat here and there or help a few more people. Afterwards, when everyone has gone, He is going to pray on the mountain.
When a storm starts to blow Jesus goes to them. He walks on the sea. He breaks through all physical laws and simply walks on the sea.
When the disciples see Jesus, they think that it is a ghost that arrives. They do not think about Jesus at all. Their hearts are troubled with fear.
- Jesus comforts them by saying: "Take heart! It is I; do not be afraid".
- The storm can be there in your life. A storm of sickness or other setbacks. Although you may have already seen something of Jesus’ strength, a storm is suddenly to come in everybody’s life. How do you deal with that? As Jesus then comes, would you recognize Him or would you also think that He would be a ghost?
- As Peter then sees Him, he asks: “Lord, if it is You, command me to come to You on the water”
"Well", Jesus says, "Just come". Also today you can ask Him: “Can I come to You, Lord? There is such a storm in my life.”
When Peter steps out of the boat and notices that he can walk on the water it must have been an awesome feeling to him. Suddenly he sees the wind blowing very strong and the waves being very high. Then his heart is troubled.
He walked on water. He could break through the physical laws too. He came at a point of his life to do something awesome. You can walk on the water too. You can break through the physical laws of sickness by walking to Jesus.
Continue to see on Jesus. Continue to look at Him. Even if the storm is very hard and the waves are very high, remain to look up. Remain saying: Lord, I look at You. With You I break through each barrier of sickness and grief in my life.
Peter sinks and starts to call: “Lord, save me!” That is not totally wrong either: if it does not succeed, then shout it out: “Lord, save me!"
- Jesus stretched out His hand to him. Jesus will not let him drown. Neither you: all who calls upon Him He will safe.
As soon as they came in the boat the storm ceased. There came some notion of Who Jesus really was.
Do we realize Who Jesus is?
There is no storm so violent or Jesus can deliver you from it.
You can pray:
“Lord Jesus, do You want to come into the storm of my life and do You want to cease the storm? Lord I give myself in Your hands. Please, help me.”
